Final Call for Young
Creative Stars
Aspiring young Kiwi designers and artists have just two weeks to register for the 2015 Brother Design Stars competition.
Online registrations close at 5pm on Friday 28 August, with all physical entries due by 5pm on Friday 4 September.
Brother Design Stars is open to all young Kiwis in school years 7 to 13 who love sewing, fashion, craft, art or design.
With an overall theme of ‘Identity,’ entrants are encouraged to create a design that best shows how they are unique and special. The theme runs across both categories; the Brother Design Stars Craft Award (requiring designers to create a tablet cover) and the Brother Design Stars Fashion Award (requiring designers to create a ‘ready to wear’ garment).
To date, hundreds of entries have been received from regions right across New Zealand. Last year, two students from Tauranga Girls College were crowned the supreme winners for both categories. Zoe Beck took out the Brother Design Stars Fashion Award and Lydia Gilmour the Craft Award.
An attractive prize pool worth over $30,000 is up for grabs, including Brother sewing and craft products, return flights to Auckland, a professional photo shoot, a designer workshop tour, a shopping spree and exclusive prizes from our very own judges. This year’s Supreme Winner will also win their school a classroom kit-out valued at $8,000.
Young creative artists and designers can register for Brother Design Stars atwww.brotherdesignstars.co.nz.
Winners will be announced in late September.
