From the Peninsula to the Islands

From the Peninsula to the Islands

Join us on Saturday the 8th of August 2015 for the opening of From the Peninsula to the Islands, a charitable exhibition by Takapuna Grammar School in support of Project Samoa.

From the Peninsula to the Islands is a charitable exhibition in support of Project Samoa, an initiative to raise funds for the small Samoan community, Lotopue which was affected by the 2009 tsunami. The village has two very under-resourced schools, Vaisuli College and Lotopue Primary School. This exhibition will enable the students to raise money for this community and help the schools by setting up a foundation to fund Takapuna Grammar School to travel to Samoa and teach English.

The initiative for Project Samoa was developed by Takapuna Grammar School International Baccalaureate students as part of the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme, to build on-going support and deepen the relationship and existing ties between both communities.

“Charitable art exhibitions are beneficial not only to the cause but to the community. It’s a nice event for everyone involved and Devonport is known for enjoying their art and celebrating creativity.”
– Exhibition organiser Francis Potter of Takapuna Grammar School and Project Samoa.
