Term Time for Toddlers at Capital E
Children aged 3-5 years will be keeping busy at Capital E Central on 4 Queens Wharf during term time in a flurry of fun activities. From dance workshops, to craft workshops and to special shows, there’s something on every single week to keep tiny toddlers entertained.
After a popular season of Dance A Story workshops, friends from Java Dance return to teach little ones an introduction to contemporary dance in Discover Dance. Every Tuesday at 10am-10.30am from 28 July - 22 September, children will be twirling, slinking and sliding their way through catchy rhythms. Workshops are $5 per participant each week.
On Wednesdays kids will be getting their hands messy in Craft Wednesdays. This term is themed around children building their own garden with supplies from the Capital E craft cupboard. Every Wednesday is a different garden-themed craft and is a free drop-in from 9.30am-3.30pm.
Little Creators with Kids Art Lab returns again in art workshops, for a four week period every Thursday from 3-24 September; children will unleash their imagination with Art Ventures of Your City. Using fingers, brushes and lots of interesting materials to explore colours, shapes, printing, painting and sculpting, kids will learn all about art around Wellington.
Capital E will be taking part in the LUX Light Festival. Families are welcomed to come down to the waterfront to check out Capital E's light installation and workshops. By day, children will discover, learn and play in special light workshops. Then by night the whole family can ooohh and aaahhh at the amazing window display. The installation will run from Friday 21–30 August from 6pm and, workshops on Friday 21-29 August as a free drop-in activity from 9.30am-3.30pm.
Finally, PlayShop Performance Company will be performing fairy tales once a month on the second Friday from 10.30am-11am from 31 July – 13 November. Children will get involved in free half hour performances improvised before their eyes in the new series named Showtime!
Some workshops and activities require bookings. Visit capitale.org.nz to reserve your spot!
