Tactix Captain Re-Signs for 2016

Tactix Captain Re-Signs for 2016

Media Release
24 July 2015

The Mainland Tactix are resolute in keeping the core of 2015 team together with the announcement today of the signing of seasoned campaigner Anna Thompson.

The 29 year old former Silver Fern and Tactix foundation player has inked her name with the team for what will be her ninth ANZ Championship season.

Anna Thompson has played in both midcourt and shooting positions for the Tactix since 2008 and is an integral part of the Tactix senior leadership team.
“We all feel we have something to prove in 2016 and our aim is to build on last season and take our game to the next level, both individually and as a team. I can’t wait!” Thompson said.
Thompson is quite unique in ANZ Championship playing history in that she has played over 100 games for the same franchise team.

Mainland Netball CEO Brigit Hearn says “We are absolutely delighted to have a player of Anna’s experience and leadership, both on and off the court, back for the 2016 season.“

“We finished on a real high last season with a win over the Kia Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, the eventual New Zealand conference winners, and we are elated that Anna wants to be a part of the resurgence of the Tactix,” Hearn said.

The Tactix have now confirmed seven players on their 2016 roster: Malawian import Mwai Kumwenda, Anna Thompson, Bailey Mes, Nicola Mackle, Gemma Hazeldine, Olivia Coughlan and Zoe Walker.
