Finals Places Confirmed:Netball NZ U19 and U23 Champs

Finals Places Confirmed:Netball NZ U19 and U23 Champs

After three days of intense competition, the finalists for the Netball NZ U19 and U23 Champs have been decided at The Trusts Arena in Henderson.

In the Under 23 competition, three teams were still in contention to make the final as late as Wednesday evening, with the last match of the day deciding the placings.

Northern Zone are the only U23 team unbeaten and will face South Zone in the final on Thursdayafternoon. Northern got off to a storming start against defending champions Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone on Wednesday night and never looked back, winning 50-41 to book their place in the final. Waikato Bay of Plenty needed to beat Northern by more than six goals to have a chance of repeating their feats of 2014, but it wasn’t to be.

The other finalist is South Zone whose only loss of the week came on Tuesday to Northern Zone by three goals.

On Thursday, Central Zone and Mainland Zone will play off at 9am for the chance to contest third place against Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone later in the day.

In the Under 19 competition, it will be a new-look final with North Harbour facing Dunedin at 2.15pm on the show court at The Trusts Arena. Both sides came through their Semi-Final matches on Wednesday evening to progress with North Harbour defeating Waitakere 38-30, while Dunedin were too good for Wellington 43-29.

Wellington and Waitakere will play off for third.
