Light, Music and the Mystery of Photonics

Light, Music and the Mystery of Photonics

Venue: MOTAT
Location: 805 Great North Road, Western Springs, Auckland
Date: Saturday 04 July 2015
Time: 6 – 8pm
Cost: Free admission, including a free coloured flashlight for the first 200 people to arrive at the event.

This Illuminating New Zealand public outreach science project is led by University of Auckland Associate Professor Cather Simpson and funded through the new ‘Unlocking Curious Minds’ fund.

It aims to increase New Zealand’s awareness of photonics – the science and technology of light – and how it is set to revolutionise our future.

After the sun has set, see MOTAT come alive with a stunning celebration of light and music as musicians play instruments connected to light emitters.

Enjoy interactive exhibits, live shows, hands-on activities with light as the focus, and talks by top science teachers and communicators.

Join in this celebration of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies in New Zealand, which coincides with the first day of MOTAT’s Science Roadshow Holiday Experience.
