Asia¬Pacific Wide LGBTIQ Youth Executive Meets To Begin Youth Hui Planning
The Youth Executive selected to plan the Asia¬Pacific LGBTIQ Youth Hui met on the 20th of June via Skype for their first
planning session. The meeting represented a gathering of the eight young people from three different countries,
facilitated by RainbowYOUTH’s General Manager Duncan Matthews.
The Youth Hui will form part of the Human Right’s Conference of the 2016 4th Asia¬Pacific Outgames in Auckland, New
Zealand. It will focus on breaking the mould of traditional conferences by emphasising the sharing of knowledge between
the attendees and by being youth run and youth led.
Applications for a Youth Executive to run and organise the Youth Hui were opened earlier this year and by the closing
date of June 15th, an impressive array of young people had put their names forward to be part of the team. Those chosen
bring a wealth of knowledge from their own communities, representing Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Samoa and
Singapore.

The Youth Executive will meet monthly throughout the remainder of 2015 and into 2016 to continue coordinating the event,
ensuring that it will cater to and embrace the diversity of LGBTIQ young people throughout Asia¬Pacific.
