Footnote New Zealand Dance presents brilliant new dance NOW
Audiences are invited to discover new Kiwi dance talent when four very different choreographers present their brilliant new works on Footnote New Zealand Dance.
These fresh works from New Zealand choreographers Anna Bate, Natalie Maria Clark, Jared Hemopo, and Katharina Waldner (who returns from the UK for this season) explore the physical language of hip-hop, the rigors of modern daily life, sensory perception and the ever-shifting lens of history.
Opening in Wellington in July, the debut of these new short works couldn’t come at a better time for Footnote New Zealand Dance as the company looks forward to celebrating its 30th anniversary in late August.
“One of the roles of our NOW season, and of the company more generally, is to give opportunities for talent to grow and to innovate. The leaders of the future may be in our studio right now” says General Manager Richard Aindow. “These brilliant, vibrant works were exactly what we were looking for during the selection process of choreographers for NOW 2015, so we can’t wait to put this programme of four short works in front of audiences for them to discover and to enjoy.”
NOW 2015 tours to three centres nationwide, Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton, opening in Wellington Thursday 09 July and closing 19 July in Hamilton at the Meteor. For ticketing and other information visit footnote.org.nz
