ZEALANDIA Celebrates 20 Years
Wellington, NZ – Wellington’s local wildlife safe-haven ZEALANDIA turns 20 this weekend, and will be celebrating with free entry to anyone younger than the sanctuary. ZEALANDIA has achieved many conservation milestones over the last 20 years, including the reintroduction of over a dozen species, some of which had been extinct from mainland New Zealand for generations.
As well as free entry for anyone under 20, there will also be a chance for visitors to win a spot in a Sub-Antarctic expedition valued at $9000, courtesy of Heritage Expeditions. This once-in-a-lifetime trip will include visiting the ‘forgotten islands’. These islands feature some of the most remarkable wildlife reserves in the Southern Ocean, are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites and are afforded the highest protection of any nature reserves in New Zealand.
There will also be a historic photo presentation running in the award-winning ZEALANDIA Exhibition, highlighting some of the changes over the last 20 years and beyond and an education showcase in the ZEALANDIA Visitor Centre Foyer.
Time: 9am – 5pm
Date: Saturday 4th July & Sunday 5th July
Venue: ZEALANDIA
Cost: Free for under 20’s, regular admission fees apply for over 20’s
