The great and the good of the Queenstown business world came out today to stun the world with their feminine side at the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival for the infamous The Hits 90.4 Drag Race.
Fishnet stockings, neon pink boas and high heels replaced the normally conservative, and warmer, business attire favoured by the town’s top Chief Executives. The movers and shakers had to navigate a challenging obstacle course of tyres and hay bales in their skimpy attire in front of a raucous crowd of festival goers in order to win top honours in one of the Festival’s more outrageous events.
The Best Dressed Award went to Dolly Trolley, otherwise known as the Queenstown Airport CEO Scott Patterson. His crazy flight attendant outfit took airport staff weeks to assemble but only seconds to be thrown into disarray by the fierce cat fight of Drag Race competition.
Regan Pearce of Destination Queenstown took out the Most Photogenic prize while the overall The Hits 90.4 Drag Queen prize went to Richie Heap of Hoamz Real Estate in Queenstown.
Miss Personality went to Toby Stanley of Roost Mortgages in Queenstown. The Miss Friendly award went to Clayton Dixon of Feast Creative.
Also taking place during The Hits 90.4 Downtown Day was the QRC Hospitality Race, where Jasper Reims (The Netherlands), Shiraz Soni (India) and Renu Begha (Nepal) from the Double Tree by Hilton took out first prize.
“It was a great day and we’re pleased to show off our hotel skills. I’ll be back next year!”, said Shiraz Soni.
The Hits 90.4 Downtown Day was held in Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park in bright sunshine and sub-zero temperatures. The day marks the mid-point in the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, which runs between June 19 and 28. The Festival brings over 45,000 visitors to Queenstown and contributes more than $55 million to the local economy.
