Drop Your Boss – For a Good Cause

It’s well known that employees can be sent over the edge by their bosses but a Wellington charity is encouraging employees to turn the tables and drop their bosses off a local landmark to support the region’s young people.

The fundraiser will see more than a dozen everyday Wellington heroes abseil down the nine-storey Harcourts building at 203-213 Lambton Quay from 11 am, Tuesday 30 June 2015.
The money will go towards supporting the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) Wellington’s Career Navigator, Stars and Project K programmes being delivered in the Hutt Valley and Porirua.

Among the abseilers who have already signed up are NZ Police Association President Greg O’Connor, Barthurst Resources CEO Greg Tacon, NZ Bus Chief Executive Zane Fulljames, Harcourts’ Eliot Falconer, Exodus Gym General Manager Gary Cottle and Crusaders’ lock Dominic Bird.
Each of the bosses has to raise $1,500 to qualify.

Foundation for Youth Development Wellington regional manager Logan McMillan says the fundraiser will go towards empowering the great kids of Wellington to reach their potential.”

Since FYD Wellington’s establishment in 2002, 9000 young people have been through one of the Foundation’s local programmes.

"These programmes make a huge difference. Fund raising for youth development is an investment in greater Wellington's future. If we get together today to give them a hand up, they'll be the people holding up our proud city tomorrow.” Said Mr Bresolin, Wellington restauranteur, and Drop your Boss fundraising Hero.

The foundation's fundraising target is $20,000.
