Get Ready for the Best Vintage Yet at the 3rd Annual New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival
The New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival is back and bursting with flavour as 23 of the nation’s best boutique vineyards strut their stuff, on Sunday June 14 at the historic Imperial Building in Fort Lane, Auckland.
Attendees can expect a culinary experience like no other, learning about and tasting wines from New Zealand’s many different regions, indulging in gourmet food and enjoying live music.
Vertical tastings, where guests taste the same wine from a vineyard year on year and learn about how and why they’re unique, will be held throughout the day. Owner and winemaker of Gillman Vineyards will conduct one of this year’s vertical tastings with a Bordeaux blend across years 2004-2009.
In addition to this there are VIP lunches, dinner and a masterclass. At the lunches, Everybody’s Head Chef Julian Pizer will serve up two courses with an entrée of salmon saltimbocca and a main of roast beef matched with festival wines.
Wine author, journalist, judge and lecturer Jo Burzynska will attend as a guest speaker at 2pm for a wine and music masterclass showcasing the Two Rivers Convergence Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Loveblock Bone Dry Riesling 2011, Ash Ridge Estate Chardonnay 2014, Lowburn Ferry Home Block Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013 and Peacock Sky Cabernet Sauvignon 2010.
Along with wine, the VIP dinner will serve up three courses with a crayfish entrée, Wagyu beef main and chocolate marquise dessert. Vegetarian options are available, and a grazing menu is on offer for all guests to purchase on the day.
Paddy Walker and Tracey Collins will enhance the atmosphere with music throughout the day, kicking off at 11.30am and running through until 7.30pm. All tickets to the event include a festival glass, an event programme and one free taste on entry.
“We’re expecting a hugely popular, sell-out event, so book your tickets quickly,” says Jacqueline Taylor, Event Director.
“We have exciting new vineyards coming on board in 2015, so the experience will be even richer than last year - bigger and better.”
