Deserving gran wins a brand new Suzuki Swift
Lucky winner Nina Carpenter receives the keys for her new Suzuki Swift from National Manager AA Autoservice & Repair and AA Licensed Repairers Greg Penney.
Nelson woman Nina Carpenter didn’t realise when she drove her ageing 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer into an AA Auto Centre, she would soon be leaving with a brand new Suzuki Swift.
“I’ve never had a new car and I just can’t believe I won’t have to worry about my old one dying on me now,” Nina says.
Nina is the lucky winner of AA’s ‘Win a Swift’ nationwide draw after she visited an AA Auto Centre to get her car serviced and up to speed to pass her warrant of fitness.
“Like most old cars it costs me a lot to keep up, so after replacing the windscreen, getting new lights and tyres, I was at the AA to get it serviced and for my warrant of fitness, which got me into the draw.”
Nina has spent most of her life looking after others. The mother and grandmother of two moved to Nelson 20 years ago to look after her dependant father. She is also a support worker for people with intellectual disabilities and relies on her car to get her to and from work.
“It was just perfect timing,” she says.
“I’m starting to get bad arthritis in my hip and the Swift will be the best thing to help me get around.”
An AA Member for three years, Nina says she might break the new car in with a road trip.
“I’d like to drive down to Dunedin to visit my daughter. I would never have risked it in my old car!”
The AA ‘Win a Swift’ promotion ran from February to April with more than 3000 people in the draw to win a Suzuki Swift. Anyone who spent more than $100 at specified AA Motoring sites during this time, and swiped an AA Member card or an AA Smartfuel Card, automatically went into the draw.
