Champagne and French-inspired
jazz are an irresistible combination. You can sip one and
sample the other.
Luxury resort, Bay Of Many Coves in the Marlborough Sounds, is bringing them together in a unique weekend from August 28-30 that will inspire all five senses.
Champagne and All That Jazz is a special weekend where guests can blow away the winter blues and sip Taittinger while listening to the distinctive sound of Kevin Clark and Fran Barton.
The sipping and sampling will be complimented by a Champagne Master Class hosted by a representative from the House of Taittinger.
Guests will have the opportunity to compare various styles, vintage and non-vintage, including the famous Comtes de Champagne and the wines of other famous labels. Taittinger Champagne House, based in Reims, was established in 1734, and is ranked in the top 250 businesses in France.
“Give your taste buds a treat with a full degustation dinner. Executive Chef, Francisco Sabando De Castillo, will outline a range of signature dishes matched to the finest Champagne Taittinger and a selection of quality regional wines,” Co-owner of Bay Of Many Coves, Murray McCaw says.
“To the taste and sound, add the sight of the superb scenery, the enticing smell and aroma of the cuisine and the welcoming touch of the Bay Of Many Coves management. We truly offer a unique experience that addresses all five senses.”
Jazz artists, Kevin and Fran, have been thrilling New Zealand audiences for four decades and now they’re bringing their sophisticated repertoire of jazz standards to Bay Of Many Coves. They teamed up in the 1970s and are still singing, playing and entertaining 40 years later.
Fran, who made her mark on radio, TV and in concerts, has a Lamborghini in her larynx while Kevin is a multi-award winning composer, instrumentalist and musicologist. Together they promise to take us from New Orleans jazz through boogie woogie, fun songs to the unforgettable experience that is French inspired jazz.
This iconic combination has performed on radio, in live performance, in studio recordings, restaurants and private and corporate functions. Kevin has been awarded two New Zealand Music Award Tuis for Best Jazz Albums with Fran featuring on three of his CDs.
In the past Fran and Kevin with bass player, Rowan Clark, have sold out every performance and Murray McCaw, advises fans to book early for this magic weekend of Pops In A Jazz Setting.
“They’re at the top of their game and their music is exciting and enduring because of their remarkable talent,” Murray says.
“They are the epitomy of entertainment and the quality of their music identifies in every way with the elegance and charm of Bay Of Many Coves.”
At the August 28-30 weekend the genius of their jazz will include modern pop favourites – music by Billy Joel. Sting, Carole King, Neil Sedaka and many others.
Prices for Champagne And All That Jazz range from $995 per person.
