Who The Hell Is Seth Sentry?
Stone The Crows, Seth is bringing
his STRANGE NEW PAST tour to New Zealand …
A stoner kid from Melbourne, with a big brain and a creative streak, Seth Sentry’s ability to create an escape from the mundane workaday life spurred on his urge to create music and led to the release of his first album This wasTomorrow (2012). Nation domination quickly followed with a top ten album, huge airplay and numerous awards. With an iconic voice as warm and familiar as a hug from an old mate (or a Koala!), the name Seth Sentry is now synonymous in the Australian hip hop scene with heartfelt lyrics, nimble rapping and big, boss hooks.
Getting his first taste of international success in the lone star state of Texas, Seth entered and won a rap battle on the famous Doritos Stage at SXSW 2013. Taking out the battle, Seth not only proved his chops in front of his first American audience, but also won the opportunity to perform a set between rap legendsPublic Enemy, LL Cool J and Ice Cube. Less than two weeks after his win at SXSW, Seth Sentry was performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to two million people; spitting rhymes and dodging f-bombs like a consummate professional, making history as the first Australian hip hop artist to perform on US TV.
After a few years of relentless touring, Seth somehow managed to fit in time to write and record his next album STRANGE NEW PAST, due for release June 5 2015. Stowing away his hoverboard, Seth now has more room to explore issues of his own identity, introspectively travelling through his own roller coaster imagination to compile an anthology of stories that document his life, with his trademark observations, story-telling and humour.
