TV3 and Radiolive Announce Gallipoli Centenary Coverage
Mike McRoberts and Melissa Davies will lead 3News’ comprehensive coverage of the100-year anniversary of the Anzac troops landing in Gallipoli, LIVE from the Turkish peninsula commencing the 20th of April.
RadioLIVE will also deliver extensive coverage with Political Reporter Lloyd Burr filing stories, interviews and LIVE reports from Gallipoli for news bulletins and station programmes.
Based in Chunuk Bair, the 3News reporting team feature nightly on 3News at 6pm, and throughout the week on Paul Henry, 3News @ 12 and 3News at 10:30pm in the week leading up to Anzac Day, providing stories, interviews and insights from New Zealand, Australian and Turkish perspectives on one of the most important and defining events in our nation’s history.
Additionally, season two of Great War Stories, a series of short films by Anna Cotrell, will also feature nightly during 3News at 6pm in the week preceding Anzac Day.
Coverage from around the country and the globe will continue on Saturday the 25th of April with a six hour The Nation – 3News Anzac Special.
Lisa Owen and Hamish Clark will co-host the 3News special which begins at 6:00am, including LIVE crosses from the team in Gallipoli and Melissa Davies at the Anzac Cove Commemorative Site, coverage of the memorial services in Auckland and Wellington, historical stories and interviews with a range of historians and special guests - followed by the two full seasons of Anna Cotrell’s Great War Stories.
RadioLIVE will begin Anzac Day coverage at 6:00am led by Mark Sainsbury, Graeme Hill, Sean Plunket and the RadioLIVE News team, LIVE at commemoration events around New Zealand and at Gallipoli throughout the day, plus special features, guests and stories dedicated to the tradition of our Anzacs.
Auckland 3News Bureau Chief Keith Slater believes it is vital to have reporters on the ground in Gallipoli to provide accurate coverage from a New Zealand perspective, and is proud to be utilising excepts of the of the only film footage from the front lines at Gallipoli in the coverage.
“100 years on and the stories of these young men continue to strike a chord in the heart of our nation,” says Slater. “All New Zealanders deserve to be a part of the centenary commemoration services even if they aren’t able to make it to Gallipoli itself.”
TV3 will also be providing coverage of Anzac Cove Memorial Service from 2:30pm (NZT) on Anzac Day. Then at 10:30pm Mike McRoberts will return to host a special programme covering the Chunuk Bair Commemorative Service.
