Thursday Sports Night Kicks Off Soon on Māori Television
Whether you’re into fishing, rugby, netball or hunting, Māori Television has something for every armchair sports fan in its new season of Thursday sports nights, starting April 30.
GET YOUR FISH ON will screen at 8pm, CODE at 8.30pm and HUNTING AOTEAROA at 9.30pm everyThursday.
Season two of GET YOUR FISH ON kicks off at the Tutukaka Coast where host Mandy Kupenga takes on Pio Terei to see who can catch the most edible species.
Kupenga and a female fishing friend will take on the local blokes at some of the country’s best fishing spots in each of the 13 episodes. The losing team has to cook for the victors so there will be tasty recipe every week, too.
Sports chat show CODE returns for an 11th season with co-presenters Jenny-May Coffin and Wairangi Koopu interviewing top sports stars and celebrities each week.
This year’s roving reporters include All Black Liam Messam, Silver Fern Maria Tutaia, basketballer Brook Ruscoe and women’s sevens player Irene MacArthur.
CODE’s new producer Tony Palmer says he was thrilled to be asked to work on the series.
“It’s an iconic show known around New Zealand as the laid back arena for our sporting heroes to chat freely with hosts who absolutely understand their lifestyles,” he says.
“It’s easy to understand why CODE has a loyal following and my aim will be to make guests comfortable and keep content real and relevant while expanding its audience and profile.”
Later in the evening, television personality and ex-All Black Glen Osborne (aka Oz) switches codes to his new role as the presenter of HUNTING AOTEAROA.
“Hunting is my passion, and the opportunity to present this show is a dream” says Osborne, who is currently filming in North America.
This season will also see him travelling from Northland to Stewart Island as well as Vanuatu in search of everything from ducks, elk, pig and deer.
Maori Television’s new season of Thursday night sports starts April 30 on Maori Television. Tune in to GET YOUR FISH ON, CODE and HUNTING AOTEAROA from 8pm for a great night in.
