Children experience the world of Grimm this Comedy Festival.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STARTS
When you can’t get to sleep late in the night, listen to a story fueled by fright!
There will be mermaids, ghouls and perhaps a hag, with sights and smells sure to make you gag.
But fear not, we promise you will laugh, cause our stories are silly and really quite daft.
PlayShop Performance Company present two live performances of Grimm Bedtime Stories at Hannah Playhouse on Saturday 9 & 16 May at 1.30pm part of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival 2015. In a show made especially for children
aged 5-10 years, this high-paced comedy adventure will thrill audiences as ghouls and hags are brought to life in clever
projection design (made by the audience) and acted out by four talented cast members.
Grimm Bedtime Stories is a hilarious and magical tale of brothers who are determined to stay up late by thrilling each other with stories.
Some stories are scary, some are sweet, others are pretty disgusting. Children and adults alike will be invited into
this secret world, where bed sheets become landscapes, torches become monsters eyes, and where pyjamas become mystical
puppets.
Directed by Victoria University of Wellington’s Lori Leigh, and written by James Cain, this stellar production will
feature as a highlight of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival 2015. The show features Isobel McKinnon, Callum
Devlin, Tom Clarke, Freya Daly Sadgrove and features music and sound design by Oliver Devlin
Artistic Director of PlayShop Performance Company Lori Leigh says, “Children are some of the most interesting audiences
PlayShop performs for. They are honest and eager to be a part of what we’re making. This Comedy Festival PlayShop will
be performing something unlike anything else, and we’re excited to be sharing this experience with young people.”
