Opportunity knocks for young
people wanting to discover their
potential
Outward Bound, New Zealand’s outdoor adventure school in the Marlborough Sound is inviting applications from people aged 18 to 26 to attend its three week Classic course.
The course helps people to reach their potential through challenges in the outdoors, using the mountains, bush and waterways of Anakiwa as classrooms. During the three week Classic course, participants experience indoor and outdoor challenges including sailing, kayaking, camping and rock climbing to learn to test their limits, gain independence and work as a team.
Nicholas Jarvie, a Classic course participant says the course allowed him to experience a personal transformation.
“The feeling of mud on your skin, the cold water on your face, the hot sun on your back, the butterflies in your stomach, will never leave me and will forever be in my memories with each and every experience helping to make me a better, stronger and more confident human being.”
Outward Bound school director Rob Maclean says the courses are designed to be mentally, emotionally, and physically challenging for the average participant.
“What Outward Bound gives people is the opportunity to experience transformation, to discover their true self and confidence. It challenges people, pushing their boundaries to see what they’re truly capable of.
“Anakiwa provides an environment that gives people the space to really think about their future, their direction and also gives them the energy to face their fears and take control of their life. Outward Bound is a truly unique classroom,” he says.
A limited number of scholarships are currently available for Outward Bound’s August Classic Course, commencing August 31st. For more information visit www.outwardbound.co.nz/scholarships or phone 0800 OUTWARD.
