Bumper Final Weekend for Dunedin Fringe
The 2015 Dunedin Fringe Festival is in its final days but still has 30 shows packed into what will be a busy and diverse closing weekend. This year’s Festival has seen many sell out shows and the final weekend is expected to continue this trend.
This evening, the highly anticipated biannual experimental music & film festival Lines of Flight begins at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. Lines of Flight features dozens of performers from New Zealand and overseas. Also featured in the final weekend are Nick Rado, Head Writer of TV3’s 7 Days, who presents his new stand-up act at the Fortune Theatre and Tauranga based comedian Freya Desmarais who will be performing her show ‘Home’ at the Fresh & Fruity Gallery in George Street. There are also numerous visual art exhibitions, which will be open until the final day.
The Festival will officially end with an Awards Night in the Dunedin Community Gallery this Sunday evening. Awards will be given out to artists in various performance categories including the coveted ‘Best of Fringe’ award. Special mentions will also be given for the outstanding contribution of Festival volunteers.
More information on the upcoming events are available in the printed Festival Guide or at the websitewww.dunedinfringe.nz. Tickets are available online, from Fringe HQ at 11 George Street, or at the door to each event if not sold out prior.
