Media Release March 19th

TV Guide Announce Public-Voted Winners for Best on the Box Awards

The publically-voted results for the TV Guide 2015 Best on the Box TV Awards are out!

The popular awards give the NZ public a real opportunity to have their say about who they would invite into their living rooms by rewarding their favourite stars with their personal tick of approval, saysTV Guide Editor, Julie Eley.

“It’s always interesting to see how our TV preferences change and who continues to come out on top year on year. Across the 13 years we’ve been running the awards, we’re always surprised and delighted with the results.

“There’s no other long-running TV award similar to Best on the Box in New Zealand, and it’s obvious Kiwis relish the chance to share their opinions,” adds Eley.

Our ongoing love affair with Robyn Malcolm remains steady, with the actress taking home her ninth win in the Best Actress category for her role as Anna in Agent Anna (TV One).

Another repeat-favourite in the Best Actor category, Shane Cortese, continues his winning streak with his third back-to-back win as Mac in Nothing Trivial (TV One).

Previous recipients Toni Street (Seven Sharp – TV One) and Ben Mitchell (TK, Shortland Street – TV2) are both back to claim the title of Sexiest Woman and Sexiest Man respectively.

TV One leads the fashion stakes by winning both titles in the inaugural Best-Dressed categories with Wendy Petrie (One News – TV One) and Josh Emett (MasterChef New Zealand – TV One).

John Campbell (TV3), king of the Best Presenter, Current Affairs categories, has won the past five years and has just scooped up his sixth title in a row. Campbell Live (TV3) also took the title for Best Current Affairs for the sixth time.

Jim Hickey (TV One), who hung up his umbrella to retire at the end of 2014, takes home the title of Best Presenter, Weather.

TV3’s 7 Days continues to hit the nation’s funny bone. It picked up the Best Comedy award with the Funniest Person trophy going to panellist Dai Henwood.

“Congratulations to all of TV Guide’s Best on the Box 2015 winners from our telly-loving team,” adds Eley.

All Best on the Box details will feature in the latest issue of TV Guide magazine, on sale March 19.
