Kiwi kids invited to create their own inflight safety video

Air New Zealand and Te Papa invite Kiwi kids to create their own inflight safety video

Air New Zealand, the airline world renowned for its unique take on the inflight safety video, is partnering with Te Papa to encourage Kiwi kids to get creative and film their own version of an Air New Zealand safety video.

The airline and national museum are running a nationwide competition for students in Years 4-8 to create a short video. One lucky class will win the grand prize of a trip to Wellington to visit the airline’s 75th anniversary exhibition, “Air New Zealand 75 years: Our nation. The world. Connected.”

Air New Zealand Head of Global Brand Development Jodi Williams says the competition is a chance for the young creative minds of New Zealand to create a safety video of their own.

“We have developed a reputation for our safety videos which have been viewed by millions of people worldwide and always tend to generate a lot of conversation. We’re excited to open up our creative platform to Kiwi kids and, as with our safety videos, we’ll be looking for originality, creativity and that sense of fun,” says Ms Williams.

A selection of the best entries will be screened at the exhibition at Te Papa for all visitors to see.

The grand prize winners will visit Air New Zealand’s exhibition to learn about the airline, past and present, from the Te Papa curator. Domestic return flights, transfers in Wellington and lunch are also included in the prize. Technology prizes from exhibition partner HP are also up for grabs including HP Chromebooks and HP Officejet Pro X-series printers.

Entries for the competition close on Thursday 2 April 2015. For more details and to enter, visit: http://www.tepapa.govt.nz/Education/Pages/SafetyVideoCompetition.aspx
