Young ladies show-up the boys at Golden Shears
Two of the World’s most promising female shearers have kept alive their hopes of Golden Shears success by qualifying for
the Junior championship final to be shorn in Masterton tomorrow.
They are Scottish shearer Emily Te Kapa, daughter of famed late New Zealand shearer Joe Te Kapa and a dominant force in
South Island Junior competitions this season, and Woodville’s Laura Bradley, a winner of two events and a regular
finalist in the North.
They qualified in 5th and 6th places respectfully, in a list of six headed by 2014 Novice winner Connor Puha, of
Kimbolton.
A notable absentee is 15-year-old Raupunga shearer Hemi Lambert, who was regraded to intermediate class, where he made
it to the semi-finals before being eliminated.
Qualifiers for the 2015 Golden Shears Junior shearing final to be shorn tomorrow afternoon(Saturday), are: Connor Puha
(Kimbolton), Robert Hubber (Dipton), Tui Wilton (Masterton), Ash Jones (Wales), Emily Te Kapa (Scotland), Laura Bradley
(Woodville).
