Filmmaker Florian Habicht to Headline Dunedin Pecha Kucha Event
Fast paced, informative and creative presentations are back in Dunedin as the next Pecha Kucha Night gets underway. As part of the 2015 Dunedin Fringe Festival, the 24th Dunedin event will be held at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery on Tuesday 17th March.
The idea behind the Pecha Kucha Night is simple – each contributor hosts a presentation on a topic they are passionate about and they have just 20 seconds to speak to each of the 20 images they have chosen. This makes for a night full of grand tales and inspiring stories.
Acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker Florian Habicht will headline Pecha Kucha Night #24. Habicht is known for a diverse collection of film work including Pulp: a Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets(2014), Love Story (2011) and Kaikohe Demolition (2004). His profound and moving portrait of the late Warwick Broadhead entitled Rubbings of a Live Man (2008) will be shown the day prior to the Pecha Kucha Night at the Regent Theatre, also as part of Dunedin Fringe.
Other presenters include Dunedin writers Henry Feltham and Lisa Scott, Fringe artist Jan Bolwell who is also performing Bill Massey’s Tourists as part of the Festival and Steve August, creator of the innovative Bodystance Backpod.
Pecha Kucha Nights were devised by Klein-Dytham Architecture in Tokyo and are now held in over 700 cities around the world. Dunedin Pecha Kucha events are produced by the Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust.
