Dunedin Fringe Festival Opens in One Week & Further Acts Announced for Showcase Event
The Dunedin Fringe Festival 2015 is set to launch its exciting programme of 47 events across the city in one week’s time. The Festival begins with the Polson Higgs Opening Night Showcase, live at the Regent Theatre on Wednesday 11th March from 7:30pm. This provides audiences with a high-energy taster of the many events on offer at the Festival.
Three further Fringe acts have been added to the Opening Night Showcase line up. Acclaimed New Zealand dance company Footnote Dance will offer audiences a preview of their show Bbeals which has its world premiere at Dunedin Fringe. Comedians Joseph Moore and Nic Sampson will also be performing during the two-hour show. Moore writes for 7 Days and Jono & Ben at 10 and Sampson, who also works on Jono and Ben at 10, is a nominee for the 2015 Billy T Award.
These acts add to the already fantastic opening night bill featuring Scottish Comedian of the Year 2014 Bruce Fummey and fellow Scot, Vladimir McTavish. Dunedin Fringe Production Manager Dallas Synnott-Chapman says the Showcase will be the perfect introduction to the festival’s programme of events. “There is something for all tastes at the Showcase - comedy, theatre, dance, music and more. It’s sure to be fast paced, fun and a little bit surprising!”
The Festival runs from the 12th - 22nd March. Tickets are on sale from the Fringe Festival HQ at 11 George St, or by visiting www.dunedinfringe.nz
