TUTAKITAKI - Fusion of Brazilian and Maori music
The Embassy of Brazil has the pleasure of inviting you to TUTAKITAKI, a unique musical project that promotes the
encounter of Brazilian and Maori music.
Developed by Brazilian singer Alda Rezende and Maori musician Matiu Te Huki, both from Wellington, in partnership with
acclaimed visiting Brazilian musicians Caíto Marcondes and Kristoff Silva, the project explores the sounds and
instruments of Aotearoa and Brazil in compositions made in Te Reo, Brazilian indigenous languages, Portuguese and
English.
The main concert will be held on Sunday 29 March, 2 pm, at Te Marae (Level 4), TE PAPA, Wellington. Free admission.
Despite the large venue capacity, it is advised to arrive early to guarantee your seat.
TUTAKITAKI will be presented in various other locations in New Zealand (posters attached) between the 28th of March and
the 5th of April 2015:
28 March: Cuba Dupa Festival, Wellington (time tbc)
29 March: Te Marae, TE PAPA, 2 pm
29 March: Meow (Cuba Dupa after-party), 6 pm
1 April: Kings Street Live, Masterton, 8 pm
2 April: Ponsomby Social Club, Auckland, 9 pm
4 April: The Sawmill Cafe, Leigh, 9 pm
