Broccoli Expected to be in Short Supply at Wellington Fringe
The Broccoli Brothers have arrived and are expecting a full house for their inaugural New Zealand shows at the Wellington Fringe Festival this weekend, 20th - 22nd February at The Fringe Bar.
The Broccoli Brothers; Paul, Cam and Dave, arrive fresh from a sell-out season at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, promising a show that will transport the audience to a higher plane of pure stupidity.
The Broccoli Brothers has been brought together by a shared passion for the immediacy of clowning. Between them they have spent years immersed in the genre as students and performers.
Paul Bourke has studied internationally with master teachers (Gaulier, Fusetti, Bolton) and toured as a physical theatre performer.
Dave Houston has created theatre nationally and internationally for over 25 years. His solo show, ‘Going my way’, played Edinburgh to 5 star reviews.
And Cam Venn began clowning at the age of five and has been bringing his unique brand of humour to audiences as both a stage and roving performer ever since.
Together they dive into stupidity and emerge with performances brimming with truth, humanity and joy.
"Clowns exist only in the moment, and only in relation to the audience," says Cam.
"So we are always exploring the connection with the audience and to create something spontaneous and irreverent," he said.
"We can't wait to bring fresh, risky theatre to New Zealand and see how those interactions play out," said Cam.
The Broccoli Brothers will be performing at the The Fringe Bar, 26 - 32 Allen St, Te Aro, Wellington 6011
February 2015 Friday 20th Sat 21st Sun 22nd All shows - 8:30pm
