WE’RE HERE FOR A GOOD TIME, NOT A LONG TIME

Get ready for one hell of a ride with One Night Stand hitting the ground at The Basement this March. This show will be fast, fun and furious as teams race to write, direct, produce and perform original 10 minute scripts – all in only 24 hours!

The festival format is simple: each round five teams are given a line, a character and a theme to create their masterpiece – the rest is up to them! 24 hours later, teams go head to head in front of our judges in a show that embraces the raw, the spontaneous and the expected unexpected.

The festival has three rounds, performed over three nights. With 5 different teams competing every night, who knows what will happen as fresh faces and Basement favourites grace the stage like you’ve never seen them before. Theatregoers can attend all three shows and expect to see something completely different each time.

Just like its namesake, One Night Stand is low-commitment, fun and over before you know it. With only 24 hours to prepare and 10 minutes to perform, watch teams try on big and bold ideas that could take you in any direction. Whether they’re a hot mess or pure magic that leaves you begging for more, these plays are sure to take you on one hell of a ride. MC’d by the delightful Chris Parker, straight off the back of presenting the 2014 Auckland Theatre Awards, One Night Stand is sure to be a night you won’t forget.
