DNA Gay Ski Week QT first Highlands Hook Up event for 2015
Organisers of DNA Gay Ski Week QT have teamed up with Highlands Motorsport Park to host an ‘adventure day’ as part of a week-long celebration of skiing, socialising, adventure and dazzling entertainment.
The Southern Hemisphere’s largest Winter Pride event sees hundreds of people converge on Queenstown between August 29 and September 5 2015 for a ‘full to the brim’ programme of fun and frolics.
New for 2015 is the ‘Highlands Hook Up’, an adventure day hosted by Highlands Motorsport Park, for the first time, in Cromwell where ‘speed dating’ will take on a whole new meaning.
To be held on Tuesday September 1, the day will involve high speed speed-dating in the famous Highlands Porsche Cayenne Taxi followed by a quick pit-stop and then a go-kart race with the lucky suitor. Participants will have just under three minutes to make an impression while travelling at speeds of up to 200 KPH.
The adrenaline-filled day will include a wine adventure at Highlands’s on-site vineyard and restaurant and a light lunch to refuel after all the excitement.
Highlands Buisness Development Manager Josie Spillane says the entire team is “excited” to be part of the DNA Gay Ski Week.
“Our pro-drivers are already fighting about who gets to drive on the day. We’re sure that there’ll be plenty of hook ups.”
“Who needs Grindr when you have Highlands. And just quietly, we’ve several single drivers looking for their own Highlands Hook Up,” said Josie.
Organisers Sally and Mandy Whitewoods said they were “thrilled” with the new addition to the already exciting line-up of events.
“We’re delighted to add the Highlands Hook Up to our programme for 2015 as it’s a cool twist on traditional speed-dating as you’ll literally be zooming around the course, in the search for that like-minded thrill-seeker,” said Sally.
“It’s a real testament to how much Gay Ski Week has to offer in terms of adventure, love and fun. We’re stepping it up a gear and it’s sure to be a sell-out event, so get in quick.”
Tickets are now on sale and available from www.gayskiweekqt.com. Amazing packages are available, including VIP and ‘almost everything’ tickets, great value for those keen to experience the frivolity and fun of the entire week.
Also new for 2015 is the ‘LYC Wet and Wild Foam Party’, held at Loco Cantina on Sunday 31 Augustwhich will see foam covered revellers dancing into the night.
Back again this year will be the ‘MORE FM Welcome Party’ and SKYCITY Queenstown’s karaoke with Miss Ribena from Auckland’s Family Bar.
Gibbston Valley Wines is bringing back the ‘Caluzzi Queen’s Cabaret’ as the glitz and glamour returns to Skyline Gondola.
There’s also the Monday night ‘Queer Quiz’ at Ballarat Trading Co presented by Durex, and the ‘True South Dining Experience’ at The Rees where taste buds will be tested with some of the region’s best wine and a five-course meal prepared by executive chef Ben Batterbury.
“We’ve had a fantastic summer in Queenstown but it’s the winter that we can’t wait for,” said Sally.
“Every year we attract more and more people from further afield, so it’s exciting to launch new adventure and fun activities like the Highlands Hook Up and see the event go from strength to strength.”
