Gull Drives Charity Initiative

Gull Drives Charity Initiative – with Kiwi Motorists in the Passenger Seat

From today, Kiwis filling up their vehicles at Gull stations will support families in need.

For a month of Mondays, Gull is raising funds for a new family bedroom wing at Ronald McDonald House Auckland.

From every litre of fuel sold at Gull sites across the nation on February 9, 16 and 23 and on March 2, one cent will be donated to this project which is set to benefit thousands of New Zealanders.

“We know how challenging it can be for families facing the weight of a child’s illness and the best thing they can do is face it together and take strength from the sense of community. We’re delighted to be supporting Ronald McDonald house in such a tangible way to help keep family members together in times of need,” says Ulrik Olsen, Gull New Zealand Commercial Manager.

“We hope our customers take great pleasure in knowing they have contributed to the creation of what will become a sanctuary for many New Zealanders as they support their children through this time of treatment and healing.”

Each year, more than 2,200 Kiwi families enjoy the home away from home environment at Ronald McDonald House. The facility provides accommodation and support programmes to families whose children are undergoing specialist treatment at the adjacent Starship Children’s Hospital.

Parents can be separated from the comforts of their own home - and from the support of other family members - for days, weeks, months and sometimes years while their child is in medical care. Ronald McDonald house aims to make this separation easier by providing accommodation and support programmes to families so that they are better placed to cope and help their child heal.
