Jeet and Randell in for Mondiale Aces return to Plunket Shield
The Mondiale Auckland Aces could potentially have two debutantes when they take the field tomorrow against the Northern Knights in their return to Plunket Shield action.
Auckland University left arm spinner Vishi Jeet and Eden Roskill pace bowler Brett Randell have been included in the 12 for the match starting at Colin Maiden Park tomorrow with opener Jeet Raval and bowler Dean Bartlett also coming back into the line-up.
Randell was on 12th man duties for the Mondiale Aces last two Plunket Shield games before Christmas but if selected it will mark debut appearances for both him and Jeet.
Top order batsman Rob Nicol is still recovering from a foot injury and bowlers Tarun Nethula and Matt Quinn are also unavailable due to injury.
The Mondiale Aces head into the clash with the table topping Knights in third spot but just three points in arrears of the leaders, and the game represents a good opportunity to leapfrog their opposition into the top spot.
The game also comes just five days after their loss in the Ford Trophy final but coach Matt Horne is confident there will be no hangover from that disappointment.
“The guys have got their heads straight back into four day cricket mode and that’s the mindset we need to get into from ball one tomorrow. Playing against the leaders will also be a good challenge, it means we need to be on top of our game throughout the contest.”
A team for the game that starts at 10.30am tomorrow, 6 February, at Colin Maiden Park will be named from the following 12 players:
Michael Bates (Captain)
Dean Bartlett
Brad Cachopa
Carl Cachopa
Colin de Grandhomme
Donovan Grobbelaar
Vishi Jeet
Anaru Kitchen
Colin Munro
Robert O’Donnell
Brett Randell
Jeet Raval
