ABE’S Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic to bring Western Springs Lakeside to Life

The Western Springs Lakeside will come alive on Sunday, the 22nd of February with the 32nd running of the ABE’S Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic from 10am – 3pm.

This iconic Auckland event has been entertaining families for over thirty years, making it the longest running event of its kind in the country. After starting life in Cornwall Park, it spent over twenty years at the Auckland Domain, before finding an idyllic new home at the Western Springs Lakeside.

Event Director – Leehane Stowers says that “the Western Springs Lakeside has proven to be the perfect place for the ABE’S Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic in recent years with its grassed areas and trees providing a wonderful family environment”.

Two stages will be set up in the Western Springs Lakeside with shows including “The Enchanted Party – the Neverland Show”, Molly the Pirate Show and well-known magician – Alan Watson.

The ABE’S Bagels giant inflatable teddy bear is back, and the perfect place for a photo. The team at ABE’S will have a delicious range of toasted bagels on offer, and good coffee so parents can keep up with the youngsters during the event.

McDonalds and Tip Top are back as support sponsors for the ABE’S Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic, with McDonalds bringing Ronald McDonald to the event.

Several strolling performers such as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan & Tinkerbelle will roam the Western Springs Lakeside, interacting with picnic patrons.

The ever popular Fairy Grotto is back with ‘The Fairy Shop’ presenting an entourage of fairies and pixies in a lively interactive show amongst the trees.

An key attraction back at the ABE’S Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic this year will be Old McDonalds Farm, giving city kids a chance to interact with a host of farm animals

There is also a heap of free bouncy castles, and face painters from Body FX set to transfer kids into their favourite characters from Superhero’s, to butterflies and princesses.

So - pack a picnic and your favourite Teddy bear, and head to the Western Springs Lakeside for a day of entertainment and wonder at the ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic on Sunday, 22 February from 10am – 3pm.
