Mediaworks Announces Mike Puru as Host of the Bachelor New Zealand
MediaWorks is delighted to announce that radio and television personality Mike Puru will host the upcoming series of The Bachelor New Zealand.
The programme, which will encompass TV, radio and interactive elements, is part of the internationally successful format The Bachelor and will screen on TV3 in early 2015.
Puru has worked extensively in radio and
television in New Zealand for 20 years. He is currently
co-host of
the award-winning Breakfast show on The Edge,
the #1 Radio Station in New Zealand.* He is also a familiar
face on shopping infomercial channels and recently did two
primetime stints as a guest presenter on TV3’s The Paul
Henry Show.
“I'm really excited about this series,” he says. “It's the perfect combination of drama and fun and no doubt it’s going to make for addictive viewing.”
“After 20 years on The Edge, I’ve seen a
lot of weddings and I know how intense the search for love
can be. I can't wait to be part of this series – the
highs, the lows, the drama and everything in
between.”
Sue Woodfield, TV3’s Head of Commissioning
and External Production adds: “We’re thrilled to have
secured Mike to host The Bachelor New Zealand. He’s
an experienced, engaging and popular broadcaster across both
television and radio platforms and his expertise will be a
real asset to the series.”
The Bachelor New Zealand will follow a group of Kiwi Bachelorettes, who will put their hearts on the line to win the attention and affection of The Bachelor through a series of group dates, one-on-one dates, and the famous rose ceremonies.
As part of series casting call, MediaWorks nationwide radio network More FM recently held the Bachelorette Wild Card promotion, which had an overwhelming response from across New Zealand.
The promotion gave More FM listeners the opportunity to choose who one of the Bachelorettes would be. The final four applicants, from Christchurch, Auckland, Blenheim and Palmerston North completed a series of challenges, with Auckland contestant Lisa O’Loughlin being presented with the final rose and a place on the show.
Michael Hill Jeweller is the Broadcast Sponsor of The Bachelor New Zealand.
The Bachelor New Zealand is produced by Eyeworks Television for TV3.
