Christchurch ratepayers discounts to see top women golfers

Christchurch ratepayers get discount to see top women golfers

Some of the world's best women golfers are coming to Christchurch and ratepayers can get half-price tickets to see them in action.

The ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open, to be held 27 February to 1 March 2015 at the Clearwater Golf Club, is New Zealand's premier women's golfing event.

Mayor Lianne Dalziel says Christchurch City Council will, over the next few weeks, be mailing all Christchurch ratepayers a special pass they can use to get 50 per cent off the ticket price.

"Lydia Ko has confirmed she will compete, which I am sure will attract large crowds," Lianne Dalziel says.

Another former champion who is among the players to watch is England's Dame Laura Davies.

"Having 50 per cent off the ticket price makes this a great opportunity for Christchurch ratepayers to see these top sportswomen in action," Mayor Dalziel says.

"With a proud history and heritage in sport, Christchurch is delighted to build on its tradition in staging international events," she says.

"We are excited to welcome visitors and players to the tournament from all over the world for the ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open. This world-class field will make for exciting viewing, whether you are an experienced golfer or simply take an interest in the sport."

Tickets can be bought online at www.nzwomensopen.co.nz and at the gate each day. Parking is available onsite. Daily draw sheets are included in the ticket price.
