Ed Sheeran Takes Top Honours in iHeartRadio New Zealand's '2014 Most Popular'
28 December 2014 - New Zealand Media and Entertainment's (NZME.) all-in-one digital radio service iHeartRadio celebrates its first full year streaming to New Zealand with the release of their Most Popular List for 2014. English singer Ed Sheeran is the number one Custom Station created by artist, with his hit song Don't also taking the number one spot for top Custom Station created by song title in 2014. Sheeran also achieves three songs in the Most Requested Top Ten list.
"With access to over 20 million songs, 450,000 and 1,900 radio stations accessible 24/7 via web and mobile, the options for streaming are endless. Ed performed a free concert for iHeartRadio NZ in April to launch his new album 'X' so there's little surprise to us that Ed holds the number one spot on 2014's Top Artist list and the number one spot on 2014's Top Song list for iHeartRadio NZ. Kiwi's simply love him," says Carolyn Luey, Group Director Strategy and Operations.
New Zealand's very own Lorde is the second most listened to artist for 2014. iHeartRadio NZ and Lorde have a special connection, with Lorde being instrumental in launching iHeartRadio to New Zealand in September 2013.
'You could say iHeartRadio NZ and Lorde have grown up together. The event to welcome iHeartRadio to New Zealand was Lorde's first major concert, not only representing a new kiwi artist breaking onto the world stage, but highlighting iHeartRadio as an authentic New Zealand entertainment brand. The Lorde concert created massive awareness and talkability of iHeartRadio, as she resonated perfectly with our target audience which she clearly continues to do," says Luey.
