Dunedin Fringe Reveals First Programme Announcments for 2015
The Dunedin Fringe Festival is the world’s southernmost open-access arts festival, and returns to the city from 12th – 22nd March 2015. Over 50 performances and exhibitions will take place across Dunedin in venues ranging from theatres and bars to alleyways and public parks.
Now in its 14th year, the Dunedin Fringe will again host a diverse spectrum of performances. Shows exploring the nuances of poetry, beards, cave people and aerobics ensure there’s no shortage of intriguing entertainment possibilities.
The Festival launches with the Polson Higgs Opening Night Showcase in the iconic Regent Theatre, on Wednesday 11th March. This gala event is a high-energy taster of some of the Festival’s amazing offerings, headlined by 2014 Scottish Comedian of the Year, Bruce Fummey.
Dunedin Fringe is delighted to announce three outstanding shows taking part in the 2015 programme. Music aficionados will welcome back legendary experimental music festival Lines of Flight. Acclaimed NZ dance company Footnote Dance will present the world premiere of their new work, Bbeals (co-produced with French company Danses en L'R) and award-winning Wellington theatre company, Trick of the Light, return with Beards! Beards! Beards!, the story of a girl who aims to grow the world’s most magnificent beard.
On Friday 13th February, the full programme is released and ticket sales open. The 2015 Festival also sees the release of a completely new brand and website and will be the first under the stewardship of new director Josh Thomas, who came on board in August 2014.
