FIS World Cup season to kick off in NZ
Some of the biggest names in winter sport will begin their search for glory in New Zealand next August. Audi quattro Winter Games NZ 2015 will once again host the first FIS World Cup events of the season.
FIS Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard World Cups for both Halfpipe and Slopestyle will all take place at Cardrona Alpine Resort between Queenstown and Lake Wanaka. Finals will be live and free to watch both on TV and online via our website.
Audi quattro Winter Games NZ CEO, Arthur Klap said the FIS World Cups would be a real highlight of the ten-day Games.
"The big events attract the biggest names and we expect record numbers to watch the four finals on the mountain, on TV or online wherever they might be. Fans will be able to see homegrown stars like Jossi Wells and Janina Kuzma - both so close to Winter Olympic medals in Sochi - mixing it with the world's best," he said.
“New Zealand is one of the first countries in the world to see the sun rise. Next August all eyes will be here watching stars of park and pipe as they shine in the 2015-16 season opener," he said.
Previous winners of FIS World Cup events at Winter Games NZ include Jamie Anderson (women's snowboard slopestyle, 2013), Kelly Clark (women's snowboard halfpipe, 2013) and Shaun White (men's snowboard halfpipe, 2009).
