The Great RDA Horse Doodle Campaign
The Great RDA Horse Doodle Campaign
Friday 28th
November sees the launch of The Great RDA Horse Doodle in
support of NZ Riding for the Disabled, with a host of New
Zealand celebrities ‘doodling’ horses for a good
cause.
Sponsored by Pet-n-Sur NZ, the Great RDA Horse Doodle campaign asks 30 diverse and well-known New Zealanders to ‘doodle’ their interpretation of a Horse onto a canvas, which are then auctioned off on TradeMe with 100% of the funds raised going towards to the work of NZRDA.
The participants range from sporting stars, musicians and actors to TV presenters and designers, including the likes of Sir Mark Todd, Sean Fitzpatrick, Shane Cortese, Greg Murphy and Lady Janine Matapaere. Also featured are artworks from an RDA Rider and an RDA Horse.
NZRDA Funding and Marketing Manager, James Craw, says that the campaign is not about the participant’s level of drawing ability or art skills but about creating something fun and quirky.
“While some of the participants - like Dick Frizzell and Greg Broadmore - are accomplished artists, some of them are not ‘arty’ at all, so we’ve encouraged them to inject as much of their personality into the doodle as possible”, James says.
NZRDA Ambassador Melanie Kerr, herself a participant in the campaign, has been impressed with some of the artworks she has seen so far.
“There are some extremely talented people involved in this campaign, and they’re not always the people that you’d expect to be able to draw a great doodle.”
The auctions launch on TradeMe on Friday 28th November and run up until the 8th December, with people able to bid on one-of-a-kind artworks created especially for the campaign.
