Insight Endometriosis Joins #GivingTuesdayNZ
Insight Endometriosis has joined the national movement #GivingTuesdayNZ which is being held throughout the country for the first time on Tuesday 2 December.
Manager/Educator, Annette Evans said “Insight Endometriosis is delighted to participate in the inaugural #GivingTuesdayNZ, to encourage the wider community to help others as we head into Christmas. This time of year can be a sad reminder of fertility issues and relationship difficulties for women with endometriosis. Our services offer hope through community support and education.
“Insight Endometriosis supports women to make informed decisions about treatment options and lifestyle changes, ensures that women and their families aren’t left facing a significant health problem in isolation through our community support programmes, and reduces significant diagnostic delays by raising awareness’, she said
Endometriosis is a significant and common condition, which can dramatically impair quality of life. The most common symptom is period pain, characterised by taking pain relief, bed rest and time off work or studies. Endometriosis is also a leading cause of fertility problems.
#GivingTuesdayNZ provides an opportunity to harness the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals, to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in what is traditionally the beginning of the giving season.
“This year want to encourage people to think about and talk about endometriosis, and to recognise and support our work through a donation, to benefit local women and their families impacted by endometriosis. Let’s celebrate the season of giving by spending a day to give back!” Annette said.
“To help us help women of all ages donate at www.GiveALitle.co.nz/org/InsightEndometriosis.
Giving Tuesday was founded and officially launched in the USA in 2012 as a new national day of giving. This year the campaign has gone global. In addition to New Zealand, Giving Tuesday is taking place in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Australia, among other countries.
In New Zealand, #GivingTuesdayNZ has been initiated by the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand, TechSoup New Zealand, Philanthropy New Zealand and Volunteering NZ
