Skechers 6k winner ecstatic after Mazda 2 win

Maria Tsao from Mazda and winner Sarah

Sarah Avery was looking forward to a nice cold drink at the end of the Skechers 6k women’s fitness event on Sunday – instead she won an all-new Mazda 2.

After completing the six kilometre course on the Auckland waterfront with 3,000 other women, Sarah was picked at random from all those that took part and won a stunning Mazda2 which will be launched in December.

Sarah was delighted with her win. “I’d seen the car on stage at the event and thought to myself I could definitely see myself driving that, but I never expected to win it! I heard my number read out and by the time I got to the stage I was shaking all over, it was unreal.”

The event provided entrants with an exclusive sneak preview off the all-new Mazda2 which until now hasn’t been seen in New Zealand.

Maria Tsao, Marketing Services Manager for Mazda New Zealand, said she was delighted Sarah became New Zealand’s very first all-new Mazda2 owner.

“It’s thrilling for her and for us because we’re hugely excited about this vehicle and it was great to be able to give people a sneak preview of it before the official launch next month.”

This is the fourth year Mazda have supported the race and the first year the event took place from The Cloud.

Sarah will choose an all-new Mazda2 GSX Hatch in one of eight striking colours and will collect it from her local Mazda dealership, John Andrew Mazda in Grey Lynn, in the New Year.
