TAB Fast Facts - New Zealand Cup & Show Week
NZ Cup & Show Week is over for another year, having brought the best of New Zealand racing, fashion and entertainment to Canterbury.
The Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup Day lived up to its reputation as one of New Zealand Racing’s biggest days, with over $6.7 million in turnover, and $1.6 million of that generated on-course.
Turnover for the entire week was up 9% on last year, at just over $21m.
There were just over 2 million individual bets placed on NZ Cup & Show Week races.
The biggest return from a small outlay was a $73,698 win from a $10 Multi bet over ten legs. It had nine legs across the Trotting Cup Day at Addington, and the final leg on My Chino to place at Riccarton on Saturday.
On Friday’s Show Day Races there were two $10,000 bets on Christen Me – one at $3.00 and one at $3.50 – to win the Woodlands New Zealand Free For All, which it did, ahead of Tuesday’s NZ Trotting Cup Winner Adore Me, with Franco Nelson in third and Terror To Love again in fourth.
Terror To Love took in more bets than any other horse in the week.
The single biggest bet placed was a $20,000 futures win bet on O’Marilyn to take out the Group 1 1000 Guineas at Saturday’s Riccarton Races.
