New Toast Martinborough Events Get Big Tick
Toast Martinborough cemented its reputation as a ‘must-do’ annual festival on Sunday, when around 10,000 ticket-holders
enthusiastically indulged in a new menu of food, wine and music.
“Toast Martinborough has always been a hugely successful event; we’ve simply enhanced it to include more events that our
guests told us they’d enjoy,” says Rachael Fletcher, Toast Martinborough General Manager. “We’re thrilled with the
response, which has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Highlights of the day included the inspired pairing of actor/comedian Mark Hadlow with Ata Rangi winemaker Helen Masters
in a hilarious lesson on the world of wine, while the owners of Bar Saluté and Greytown Butcher provided a comedy-packed
demonstration of barbecuing brilliance. Visitors also clearly enjoyed the culinary masterclasses on offer, not to
mention the superb wines, delicious cuisine and extensive range of live music performances.
“People love coming to Toast Martinborough because of the fantastic atmosphere and the buzz of visiting the vineyards to
experience unique, individually designed wine, food and music experiences,” says Fletcher. “These new developments have
enabled them to get even more from the event, and proved real winners on the day.”
There were other winners too. Ruth Pretty’s combination of Brie and Caramelised Onion Boule and 2013 Ata Rangi Craighall
Chardonnay earned it the 2014 Dish Local Flavours Award as voted by judges Yvonne Lorkin and Alice Harbourne from Dish.
Proceeds from Toast Martinborough are invested into the local community. Previous initiatives to receive funding include
the St John ambulance service, tree planting and support for local schools and health services.
