Overwhelming Response to the Bachelor
New Zealand Casting Call
MediaWorks has been overwhelmed by Kiwi women applying to be part of the first series of The Bachelor New Zealand, which will screen on TV3 in 2015.
The More FM casting call opened on Monday 3 November, and the response so far has been outstanding, with potential Bachelorettes signing on from Invercargill to Whangarei, and everywhere in between. Producers say the calibre is very high, with applicants coming from a variety of backgrounds including engineers, florists, farmers and doctors, karate instructors, hairdressers, teachers, lawyers and scientists.
Producer Anna Lynch says: “The response has been really impressive. The breadth is amazing with such a variety of ages and experiences. Our first Bachelor will be a very lucky man.”
The Bachelor New Zealand is the first local version of the hit international contest which has seen 30 countries take part in their own search for love. The show will follow a group of Kiwi Bachelorettes who put their hearts on the line in the search for love. The will compete to win the attention and affection of The Bachelor through a series of group dates, one-on-one dates, and of course, the famous rose ceremony.
During the rose ceremony, the Bachelor presents a single red rose to each of the Bachelorettes that he would like to get to know a little better. Any woman left without a rose must pack her bags and leave The Bachelor mansion. As the series reaches its climax, the Bachelor will invite a few special Bachelorettes on a romantic getaway. From there, two ladies will join him on an adventure date where he will ultimately decide which Bachelorette has won his heart and a place in his life.
As the casting call progresses, More FM is giving the public their first taste of The Bachelor, with announcers throughout the country interviewing potential Bachelorettes on air – all doing their best to impress the series producers. Women aged 21-35 were surprised on the street by More FM promo teams who presented them with a single red rose, and this week TV3 and More FM launched the ‘Design Your Dream Date’ promotion. Listeners are invited to suggest their dream date to The Bachelor New Zealand producers via morefm.co.nz and may earn the chance to win a dream date from the show itself.
The Bachelor New Zealand is produced by Eyeworks Television for MediaWorks. The series will screen on TV3 in the first half of 2015, with extra content living on MediaWorks’ radio, web and social media platforms.
The Bachelor New Zealand casting call is still open, and producers welcome applications from females aged between 21–35 who are genuinely looking for love. For details visitmorefm.co.nz/thebachelor or join the conversation at facebook.com/TheBachelorNZ.
