New Co-Chairs for Dunedin Fringe

11 November 2014

New Co-Chairs for Dunedin Fringe

The Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust are pleased to announce that Aaron Hawkins and Scott Muir were elected Co-Chairs of the Trust at last week's Annual General Meeting. The retirement of Warren Taylor allows the Chairs role to be updated, and follows the appointment of new Director Josh Thomas in August this year.

“It is testament to Warren's leadership that the Board felt it necessary to have two people replace him”, Mr Hawkins said yesterday. “The wealth of experience he offered over the past seven years brought maturity and stability to the Trust's governance. In this regard, we are well placed to work with our community to continue to develop a strong vision for the Dunedin Fringe in the years ahead.”

The Co-Chair model works well with the Trust's desire to be more open and inclusive whilst setting a course for the Trust's activities, which include the annual Dunedin Fringe Festival, the Amped Music Project and the Pecha Kucha series.

Both men see their immediate focus being supporting Mr Thomas as he prepares his first Dunedin Fringe Festival, putting his stamp on an event that has become an annual highlight of the local cultural calendar.

“It is critical that we continue to develop our relationship with artists and audiences, and grow both the profile, and financial sustainability, of our year-round calendar of events” Mr Muir said. “With new and passionate leadership at both a governance and operational level, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Fringe.

The Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust trustees are Aaron Hawkins and Scott Muir (Co-Chairs), Stephen Hall-Jones (Secretary), Donna Agnew (Treasurer), Martyn Roberts and Richard Reeve (Trustees).

The 2015 Dunedin Fringe Festival will take place from March 12-22.
