Step Outside Ordinary Life with the Wellington Magic Club End of Year Show
Wellington, 10 November 2014 - If you’ve ever wanted to experience something magical and strange, to step completely outside ordinary life for a moment, the Wellington Magic Club’s 2014 End of Year Show is your opportunity. Two performances of the Show occur on Sunday 30 November 2014, at 4.30 and 7 pm at the Newtown Cultural Community Centre.
“The Club’s members include some of New Zealand’s best magicians,” says Nopera Whitley, President of the Wellington Magic Club. “This is the only time in the year they collaborate on a single show. Every magician has their own style, and the 2014 End of Year Show is your chance to experience some very different, very accomplished performers.”
Produced annually by The Wellington Magic Club, the End of Year Magic Show strives to bring the audience the joy of magic felt by Club members. This year’s show brings together the varied styles and genres of magical performance, featuring:
• The hosting prowess and comedy magic of
Anton van Helden;
• New Zealand’s Close-up Magic
Champion Nopera Whitley;
• New Zealand’s Junior Stage
Magic Champion Niko Nash-Krippner;
• Comedy magic duo
Jeremy & Kade;
• Sleight-of-hand expert Kalindha
Wettewa;
• Comedy children’s entertainer Ed
Hall;
• Manipulator Mika Denham;
• Street
illusionists Tom and Maor;
• Mountebank Mike Kay
“In a world where digital effects have become commonplace,” says Whitley, “it’s something rare to see mysteries performed live, right before your eyes. Perhaps your perception of reality will alter before the evening is over.
Anything could happen.”
Based in Wellington New Zealand, the Wellington Magic Club was founded in 2012. It encourages the pursuit of magic as a performing art, fostering the appreciation of the skills, art, and history of magic. The Club offers an environment for the learning and teaching of the skills and art of magic and provides a platform for public performance, for those who so choose.
The Wellington Magic Club will hold two performances of the 2014 End of Year Magic Show on 30 November 2014, at 4.30 pm and 7 pm, at the Newtown Cultural Community Centre. Tickets range from $10 to $15, and are available through www.eventfinder.co.nz.
