TW Group and Suppliers Dig Deep for Aspiring Youth
Over $565,000 raised for The Salvation Army’s youth development programme
On Friday 7 November, The Warehouse Group held its 23rd annual Supplier Awards & Charity Dinner and raised over $565,000 for The Salvation Army’s ‘Aspire’ programme, which aims to deliver a brighter future for vulnerable Kiwi youth and their families.
The annual black tie event, held at Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre, was attended by over 1,000 guests and was hosted by Dominic Bowden and Petra Bagust. It is one of the country’s biggest charity events of the year and raises money for one of the Group’s national community partners, while at the same time acknowledging and celebrating the contribution and support of suppliers to the Group in the past year.
The Warehouse Group chief executive Mark Powell congratulated all of the category winners and in particular, Hewlett Packard, which was crowned Supreme Award winner in recognition of its consistently outstanding delivery of value to the Group businesses.
“Hewlett Packard’s product management and sales team understand our business very well and have been a critical part of our success in computer products over the past year, creating an enormously positive impact across all key metrics in this category.
“It is the generosity of our customers, suppliers and guests as well as our team that makes this event possible. As a New Zealand owned and operated business, we are committed to helping enhance the lives of families and young people in Aotearoa, which is why we selected to partner with The Salvation Army ‘Aspire’ programme this year,” said Mr Powell.
Proceeds from all ticket sales, the silent and live auctions and other fundraising throughout the evening will be used by The Salvation Army to deliver ‘Aspire’, which is a comprehensive, year-long programme of personal development to support more than 500 at risk young people from across the country.
The Salvation Army’s National Secretary for Social Services, Major Pamela Waugh, said: “We are thrilled to partner with The Warehouse Group to deliver our Aspire programme which will give our young people the tools, knowledge and confidence to tackle life’s challenges head on.”
New to this year’s supplier awards line up was the addition of a Torpedo7 Group supplier award, which went to New Zealand business Icebreaker for the brand’s consistently high delivery of overall value to the outdoor adventure retailer.
Also new this year was the announcement of the inaugural national The Warehouse Community Hero Award, which was presented to General Manager of BabyLoss NZ, Sarah Numan for her outstanding services to the community.
