Hello Girls & Boys!
Welcome to the Antiques Roadshow of Toys!
Did you know that young Aucklanders established the largest Meccano club in the world? Devonport writer David Veart has just released his latest bookHello Girls & Boys! It tells the delightful story of New Zealanders and their toys, from kites to Buzzy Bees and Tonka Toys.
This is the first major book on toys in New Zealand.
An anthropologist and archaeologist who is known for his expert knowledge of local landmarks, Devonport author David
Veart brings history to life through the joys of everyday things. His previous books include the popular First Catch Your Weka: A Story of New Zealand Cooking and Digging Up the Past: Archaeology for the Young and Curious.
He is a lively writer and an equally colourful raconteur. David will talk about his new book during an open afternoon at
the Michael King Writers’ Centre.
His talk will be followed by the Antiques and Collectables Roadshow of Toys. Bring along your favourite antique and
