The inaugural Great Wellington Hunt

They came, they saw and they conquered the inaugural Great Wellington Hunt!

On Sunday the inaugural Great Wellington Hunt saw teams of four race from the Railway Station to the Basin Reserve, to the top of Mount Victoria and many locations in between.

32 teams (116 Adults and 10 kids) set out to find out who John Plimmer was, where to find Te Aro Pa, the story behind the Polish Children of Pahiatua and stopped for a game of hopscotch along the way.

Racers took to Facebook to comment on the event “Brilliant afternoon thank you all. Looking forward to next time already” said Gabrielle Nutt. While Felicity Forrest wrote “Well done on a great event. Lots of fun making new discoveries”.

A total of $2000 was raised for Make – A – Wish New Zealand to help make more wishes come true for children with life threatening medical conditions.

Childrens Race:
1St went to ‘Awesome Team Clark’ made up of Liz Ngan, Chris Clark, Rachel Clark (13) and Shaun Clark (9) winner of a $250 voucher compliments of Interislander Cook Strait Ferry
2nd went to ‘Sweet As’ made up of Philippa, John, Jasmine (16) and James (14) winner of movie passes for four compliments of Event Cinemas
3rd went to ‘Faulkner and Shadbolt’ made of Murray Shadbolt, Ollie Shadbolt (11), Simon Faulkner, Isabelle Faulkner (10) and Elliott Faulkner (7) winner of movie passes for four compliments of Event Cinemas

The Main Race:
1st a return trip for four to National Park compliments of KiwiRail Scenic Journeys went to ‘Team Wilson’ made up of Fiona Pearce, Alana Corney, Hayden Corney and Maria Heine.
2nd two vouchers for two consecutive nights stay in a premier studio compliments of Museum Hotel went to ‘The Mafia’ made up of Eileen Moughan, Sarah Loh, Averill Clark and Anna Yardley.
3rd $250 voucher compliments of Interislander Cook Strait Ferry went to ‘Geek Chic” made up of Anna Monson, Rachael Manson, Jess Forkett and Amy Carnie.
