Government House Ballot Closes on Friday

Government House Ballot Closes on Friday

The ballot to attend the Bledisloe Garden Reception at Government House is due to close this Friday (31 October, 2014) at midday.

It is the first time a ballot has been held for invitations to the Garden Reception, which is held on Waitangi Day, and Official Secretary Niels Holm says the response has been excellent.

“Over 2,000 people, from all around New Zealand, have entered the ballot so far, “he said. “The idea of spending part of Waitangi Day with other New Zealanders at Government House seems to have struck a chord with many people.”

875 people will be selected from the ballot at random to attend the Garden Reception. Each will be able to bring a friend or partner. The ballot can be accessed via the Governor-General’s website www.gg.govt.nz.

Government House staff expect to be able to notify people of their success or otherwise in the ballot within two weeks of the closing date.
