The Real Groovy Revolution Continues!

The Real Groovy Revolution Continues!

LP records spin at 33 1/3 rpm and on Saturday November 22nd Real Groovy turns 33 1/3rd years old.

In a year where the vinyl revival is stronger than ever we’re celebrating our 33 1/3rd birthday with a very special day in-store by:

1. Releasing A Day In My Mind’s Mind, a double LP compilation of seminal NZ Pop/Psych from the late 60’s, early 70’s, all lovingly re-mastered for vinyl, in a gatefold sleeve with expansive liner notes detailing the time and place and history.

2. Presenting live in-store performances from four of the original vocalists featured on the album, backed by local retro rockers The Situations.

3. Offering on limited edition vinyl for the first time the chart topping debut album We Rise from powerhouse Hamilton rock act, Devilskin, along with the new Live at the Powerstation CD+DVD set.

4. Welcoming Devilskin to perform a short live set.

5. Gathering together a handful of our favourite people to DJ and keep the party going.

A Day In My Mind’s Mind features the very best tracks drawn from the 4 CD series of the same name that brings together 28 recordings from one of the most creative periods in New Zealand’s pop music history, now officially re-issued for the first time on vinyl. Limited to 500 copies, with the first 100 sold including a bona fide autographed insert. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGzzwocAhbo for audio bite sampler of all 28 tracks.

Bill Ward (Human Instinct), Larry Morris (Larry’s Rebels), Glyn Tucker (Gremlins) and Greg O’Donnell (The Music Convention) perform selections from the album live in-store, and numerous band members from the compilation will be in attendance so bring along your ephemera to get autographed.

We Rise spent 3 weeks at number 1 on the NZ Album Charts and sees its vinyl release for the first time on the 22nd of November. Two versions will be available; Limited Edition Red vinyl and the traditional black, both containing a bonus 7”single. “With the phenomenal success of the first album, we see no better way than to release it on vinyl coinciding with Real Groovy’s birthday celebrations” says the bands manager James Southgate.

In addition, the new CD+DVD set Live at the Powerstation is available in-store. The band will play a short set and then be available for signing.

Our guest DJs include Jacinda Adern (MP), Nathan Hickey (drummer, Beastwars) and Paul Martin (host of the Axe Attack radio show and bass player of Devilskin).

Come out and see us on Saturday 22nd November at 438 Queen Street from 9am to 7pm and help us celebrate this numerical coincidence.
